Chick Embryology Unit
We will begin our “Chick Unit” the week of April 20. We will have eggs incubating in our room from
April 21st until they hatch approximately 21 days later on May 12. This is an exciting unit for the children.
You will be amazed at how much they learn about chickens. Please remember to
ask your child what he/she learned each day. Some of our projects will be
available for you to see at our Open House on Thursday, April 23.
Book-It
Reading Incentive Program
March
was the last month that the children will receive a pizza coupon for returning
their monthly reading chart. The Book-It program technically ends at the end of
March. We will still be sending an
April & May calendar home to record what books the children have read. Keep on reading!
Our musical was a great
success as always! Thank you to Ms. Wyse
for putting in a lot of time (and patience) into this performance. The children did a great job also! I loved seeing all the creative hats!

This week
we read the fable, The Fox and the Grapes. We continued to
compare and contrast fables and also entered our vocabulary words into our
vocabulary booklets.
The vocabulary words for
this week were: bunch, juicy, lunged, pluck, ripe
Phonics Skills
We will work on the /oi/ sound.
Grammar Skills
We
will work on using adverbs correctly.
Spelling Words
The spelling words for next week are: bug, had, film, oil, coin, noisy, spoiled,

Author of the Month
Mary Jane Auch is our new author for the month of April. Many of her books, such as Chickerella, Peeping
Beauty, & The Princess and the
Pizza, are based around fairy tales. We will be comparing these stories to the
original fairy tales that they are based upon.
Have a fantastic Spring Break!
