Tomie dePaola is our author for the month of February. We have been reading his books every day for the past couple of days.

100 Days of School
The 100th day of school is on Wednesday, February 8th. So far we have collected 5 items for our Have a Heart..Lend a Can project. We're hoping to collect 100 items by Wednesday. Thanks for your support!
Valentine's Day Party
Our Valentine's Day party will be on Tuesday, February 14th from 2:00-3:00. The children will pass out their Valentines before the party. Do not address the valentines, just have your child sign his/her name. This makes passing them out much easier. There are currently 17 children in the class since Andrew moved last week. Thanks.
ReadingThe stories from our anthology for next week are: Red-Eyed Tree Frog and the poems The Snake and The Toucan.
Comprehension Strategies
The children will be practicing the skills of predicting and inferring.
Vocabulary Words
The vocabulary words for next week are: boa, caterpillar, eyed, eyes, iguana, katydid, macaw, moves, poisonous, tongue, and toucan
Phonics Skills
The children will be learning about the vowel pairs ai and ay. We will also review the long e vowel and the vowel pairs ee & ea.
Grammar Lesson
We will be focusing on naming words for one or more.
