On Friday, March 6, several people from SCARCE came to our school to talk with the first graders about the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle.  They did a papermaking activity with the children and also showed them many items that have been made out of recycled materials.  Ask your child to tell you about it, if he/she didn’t do so already.

Comprehension Strategies
We have been focusing on reading fluently.  Each child received two “You Read to Me, I’ll Read to You” books – one which deals with fairy tales and the other one deals with fables.  These books have short stories that are meant to be read with a partner.  The children have been practicing reading these stories during Daily 5 centers.
