Reading
This week we read the fable of The Tortoise and the Hare.  We discussed the elements of a fable (characters, problem, and moral/lesson) and wrote them on a chart.  We also compared this fable to The Ugly Duckling.
The vocabulary words for this story were:
boast, dart, contempt, plod, and steady

Comprehension Skills
For the month of March we are focusing on visualizing skills.  We read the poem called, “My Neighbor’s Dog is Purple” and drew a picture half-way through the story, and then again at the end.  They shared their pictures with the rest of the class.  It was very interesting.
