Everyone is doing a great job of finding their bus at the end of the day. Please remember to send a note if your child is going to picked up from school. If I don't receive a note, then your child will be placed on his/her regular bus.

Author of the Month
We read a different Eric Carle book each day this week. We worked on prediction and inference skills. Eric Carle books are good books to begin the year because he uses number words, color words, and repetition throughout them.
Our library time with Mrs. Bouton is on Wednesday. We also have a short checkout time on Monday afternoon. The children are allowed to checkout 2 books at a time.
We will be having computer time each week on Tuesday from 2:25-3:10. Since we will be doing PBIS activities next week, computers will begin the following week.
Curriculum night for 1st grade is on Thursday, September 8th at 6:30 pm. in the gym. Mrs. Hansen will speak for a short time, then you will go to your child’s classroom. I hope to see you then.We will be using the Houghton Mifflin reading series this year. We already did some activities from the series this past week. The beginning of the year is a review of some common sight words and also uses stories with patterns, such as, “I like...” or “I see...” We have started writing a sentence to go along with some of the basic sight words. I have been stressing using a capital letter at the beginning and a period at the end. It takes the children a while to remember to do this on their own.
Enjoy the long Labor Day weekend!
