First Grade Music ConcertOur 1st grade music concert was a success. Thank you to Ms. Wyse and all the students for their hard word in preparing for this program. Everyone did a nice job!
The response to the “Helping Japan Coin Donation” was tremendous! While collecting the coins over a 2-week period, WE RAISED $ 1,127.56!! The students, parents, and teachers at Elizabeth Ide really contributed to raising the awareness about the importance of helping the people of Japan. Our donation will be donated directly to the Red Cross organization. Thank you for supporting our Character Counts program mission to help the people of Japan!!
Chick Embryology UnitWe will begin our “Chick Unit” the week of April 4th. We will have eggs incubating in our room from April 12th until they hatch approximately 21 days later on May 3rd. This is an exciting unit for the children. You will be amazed at how much they learn about chickens. Please remember to ask your child what he/she learned each day. Many of our projects will be available for you to see at our Open House on April 28th.
Reading

When we return to school on April 4th, we won't be having a new story in reading. Instead, we will be working on chick activities and doing some writing activities.
We will still have “Power Hour” from 10:30-11:30 and will do reading activities during that time. We will have a list of 8 spelling words that go along with our chick unit. The test for these words will be on Friday.
Spelling Words
The 8 spelling words for the week of April 4th are: chicken, chick, hen, rooster, sac, wings, egg tooth, & embryo
